President of Austrian Jewish Community to Retire

Dr. Ariel Muzicant has announced his retirement as president of the Austrian Jewish Community, reports the Austrian Press Agency (APA). The Austrian Jewish Community (IKG) is scheduled to hold elections in November 2012, until then vice president Oskar Deutsch will succeed Mr. Muzicant. Deutsch is a member of “Atid”, the strongest faction within the IKG. Mr. Muzicant has not published an official statement at this time, but observers report that he had planned to retire from the position after reaching the age of 61.
