Reading: „es ist alles noch sehr frisch“

  • LöwenSaal Hohenems 9 Schlossplatz Hohenems, 6845, Vorarlberg Austria (map)

Reading and reflection by Doron Rabinovici (Vienna) - in conversation with Hanno Loewy (Hohenems)

Doron Rabinovici reads from his literary texts, dedicated to Holocaust survivors. He also reflects on his own transformations in regard to the survivors' stories. The highlight of this exploration was his theatrical production "The Last Witnesses" - created together with Matthias Hartmann - in which he presented the legacy of the contemporary witnesses on the stage of the Burgtheater.

Doron Rabinovici, born 1961 in Tel Aviv, has lived in Vienna since 1964. As a writer and historian, Doron Rabinovici has explored the history and post-history of the Holocaust from many angles. As a novelist he deals with present Austrian history and its contradictions. As a scholar, his main interest is the history of the Jewish Community under National Socialism. As an essayist and activist (e.g. of the Republican Club in Vienna) he critically accompanies political developments and the latest excesses of anti-Semitism and racism. Among his best-known books are Suche nach M (1997), Andernorts (2010) and Die Außerirdischen (2017)
