The association Steine des Gedenkens für die Opfer der Shoah (Memorial Tablets in Commemoration of the Victims of the Shoah) will take you on a tour through the permanent exhibition of the Dokumentationsarchiv des österreichischen Widerstandes (Documentation Center for Austrian Resistance). A special focus is put on the 3rd district of Vienna, which was home to about 13,200 Jews, several synagogues, and cultural institutions before the Shoah. Thousands of Jews were deported to concentration camps in trains leaving from the train station Aspangbahnhof. While bunkers in the park Arenbergpark have remained until this day, Jewish schools operating in ghettos belong to the past.

The exhibition traces history from the First Republic and the years preceding the "Anschluss" all the way to the present. The exhibition texts reflect, on one hand, significant focal points of research. On the other hand, they provide an overview of the state of research in contemporary history on NS-crimes, persecution, and resistance on Austrian territory from 1938 to 1945. Austrian NS-perpetrators and the participation among the population are mentioned as are the Austrian Republic's frequently dubious handling of the processing of the NS-past after 1945 regarding denazification and legal prosecution of NS-crimes as well as restitution and compensation for NS-victims. A separate section deals with extreme right-wing and neo-Nazi currents in Austria since the war.

Opening hours of the permanent exhibition: Monday to Wednesday, Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
