The Rabbinic movement was small and in the early days only moderately popular. Yet it succeeded over the centuries to be the formative movement of Judaism and the founder of the Jewish tradition par excellence. How could this be possible? What mechanisms have helped the movement and how did it understand itself and how could it gain power? An important key to understand the Rabbinic movement was its ability to offer sensible and identity-creating deals that made it possible in all perspects of life to live without Temple and without a country and also without complete withdrawal by the Jewish Environment. The rabbis created a space of homogeneous identity and therefore the prerequisite for jewish on the basis of learning and life overcome times and limits according to clearly defined and transparent bidding.
