The salon is a place where thinking is done in conversation. As part of the exhibition “The Place to Be. Salons – Spaces of Emancipation,” the Jewish Museum Vienna will be transformed into a space for conversation.
Elke Krasny and Astrid Peterle are curating five evenings dedicated to the protagonists of the exhibition, such as Fanny von Arnstein, Berta Zuckerkandl and Anna Mendelssohn, at which ideas and meanings of the salon are discussed from today’s perspective. On the basis of selected texts, which are made available to interested parties in advance for reading, we activate the cultural and political dimensions of the salon together in the museum.
