The artist Arno Gisinger (Paris) in conversation with Hanno Loewy.

Arno Gisinger, born 1964 in Dornbirn, lives and works as a photographer in Paris where he teaches photography at the University of Paris VIII. His work deals with questions about history and memory, language and images. Since the opening of the Jewish Museum Hohenems in 1991, there were always common projects with Arno Gisinger: the exhibition "Beit haChaim -Der jüdische Friedhof in Hohenems ' (1992),"a quarter of city - illuminated houses"(1995),"time out - this is the Chair for the Godfather"(2001),"Rosenthal. "(2002),  Collage einer Familiengeschichte" (2002), Video interviews with Stefan Rollin in New York and Jacqueline Heyman in Brussels, the museum catalogue 'Heimat diaspora" (2008) and many others.

For the exhibition "Sag Schibbolet!" Arno Gisinger has grappled with the boundary of the old Rhein. His recent exhibitions include: “Nouvelles histoires de fantômes” (mit Georges Didi-Huberman), Palais de Tokyo, Paris 2015; “Invent arisiert”, Centre Pompidou, Paris 2014; “Archéologies”, Reims, 2016; “Konstellation Benjamin”, Pau, 2017; “Geistergeschichten”, Biennale für zeitgenössische Fotografie, Mannheim, 2017; “Faux Terrain / Betrachterbilder”, Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt 2017.
