Some Jewish women from Vienna saved themselves by a sham marriage with a foreign citizen. These marriages were entered in pro-forma, out of solidarity, or for a fee, to reach a country where Jews were not already prosecuted. Women who were already in exile, entered a marriage of convenience to escape the statelessness or to obtain a work permit. Curator Sabine Bergler lead through the exhibition and then present those 12 women who will tell their stories of life and survival. Afterwards Hannah Landsmann, head of the Department of communication & mediation, will present the mediation program which also lets the apparent husbands come to word.
