7000 Jewish residents of Berlin resisted deportation in 1943 by going into hiding in the metropolis in various disguises and hiding places. Four survivors remember their dramatic experiences as young people and turn out to be gifted storytellers. The film skilfully combines these eyewitness interviews with exciting, excellently interpreted play scenes, which make fears and horrors as tangible as the spirit of enterprise, hopes and the remarkable support of the people of Berlin. An intense, moving documentary feature film that emphatically appeals to the courage to resist injustice and persecution. (Filmdienst)
